Weekend Trip- Savannah, GA Travel Guide

So since I have a blog now, I thought I would share a quick travel guide to Savannah, GA! Bradley and I visited Savannah in March of 2020 to celebrate our one year anniversary. Better late than never to share my favorite spots in Savannah! It was so charming. We love visiting places we have never been before and learning about the history. If you are wanting to visit somewhere that is a ‘small’ town, but still has plenty to offer I highly recommend visiting Savannah. It has the cutest and coolest restaurants and lounges, a lot of history and different things to see. In my opinion, going in the spring is one of the best times to visit because the weather was perfect and everything was blooming! Keep reading to know about where we stayed, our favorite restaurants and what we did while we were there.

Where To Stay:

Bradley and I stayed at this adorable Airbnb. The beautiful studio was so cozy and it was close to everything! We walked everywhere except for when we went to one restaurant. Our Airbnb was located in a renovated building located above a Starbucks and Ben & Jerry’s - convenient, right?!

The exact Airbnb we stayed in is no longer available, but click on the link below to explore the cutest Airbnbs managed by the same company we went through! All of Sonder’s studio style rentals are each so unique with the decor and their very easy to book!

Where To Dine:

  • The Collins Quarter - This place is GREAT for brunch. Their coffee, food and overall atmosphere was amazing. With the weather being perfect in March, we sat outside and it was beautiful. I highly recommend the Eggs Benedict. You might have to wait for your table if you do not make a reservation in advance, but it is well worth the wait!

  • Goose Feathers - This is another great breakfast place. It is a classic breakfast diner with great options to choose from.

  • The Coffee Fox - Such a cute little coffee shop and their coffee was delicious!

  • Blends A Coffee Boutique - A classic and cozy coffee shop that was located right across the street from where we were staying. They make great lattes and have a great small breakfast selection!

  • Zunzi’s - This place for lunch is delicious. Their sub sandwiches are so good and I love their South African Tea. They have a cute outdoor seating area where you can enjoy your meal!

  • Common - We dined in during lunch while we were out exploring and it was our favorite lunch spot. The food and drinks were amazing. I highly recommend the pork tacos and Bradley got the burger which was also delicious.

  • Cotton & Rye - So let me just go ahead and say this was my favorite dinner spot on our entire trip. The food was amazing and the restaurant itself was beautiful! We sat on the screened in dining patio and it was lovely. I did make reservations in advance so I recommend for you to do the same if you plan on trying them out! Cotton and Rye is not walking distance, but there is parking available next to the restaurant.

  • The Olde Pink House - This restaurant is a classic in Savannah. It was recommended to us to visit. They converted a mansion into an elegant dining experience. Our appetizers to our main course was excellent. I recommend the smoked salmon dinner. There is a bar located off the house called Planters Tavern. Give it a visit while you’re waiting or after dinner.

  • Chive Sea Bar & Lounge - We stumbled upon this place after a long day of exploring and it definitely did not disappoint. We sat at the bar and enjoyed a few drinks and appetizers. The deco inside the restaurant was stunning. It is 1920’s inspired with an intimate dining experience.

  • Alley Cat Lounge - This was our favorite place to get a drink on our trip. The experience was so unique. To enter the bar, you have to go around the back of the building and it is located in the basement. The atmosphere is perfect to relax and enjoy an amazing cocktail.

  • The Grove - Bradley and I love rooftop bars and this rooftop lounge is great! It offers beautiful views of the City Market. Their house-made cocktails are delicious and they also offer small plates, which who doesn’t love?!

Things To Do:

  • Savannah Walking Tour - When we visit cities, we love to know the history of it! We highly enjoyed doing a walking tour (wear comfy shoes).

  • Explore Savannah’s Riverwalk - So many cute stores and restaurants to visit!

  • Explore the town and visit the local shops! Here is a list of a few stores we visited:

    • Savannah Bee Company - I recommend getting the whipped cinnamon honey, tupelo honey, sourwood honey & the acacia honey!

    • The Paris Market - This store is adorable! It is two levels with a cafe located on the first floor. They have the cutest gifts and decor for your home, kitchen and more.

    • 24e Design Co. - Furniture store with a very cool atmosphere with unique pieces.

    • The Spice and Tea Exchange of Savannah

    • The Copper Closet - Boutique

    • Mamie Ruth - Boutique

  • Visit Forsyth Park - A lengthy, but beautiful walk from where we were staying.

  • City Market - The market has many different shops and restaurants you can visit. They usually will have live music in the evenings!

  • Get ice cream at the famous Leopold’s Ice Cream

Tips:

  • I highly recommend making reservations in advance for certain restaurants.

  • Bring comfy shoes. You will be doing a lot of walking if you choose to walk the city. For me, comfort was key on this trip!
